Our Carlsbad office is actively seeking a Chemical or Mechanical Engineer to join our team-oriented setting and advance their career. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, team-oriented, and humble. As an Engineer, you will provide engineering and design support within our existing environmental services practice, which focuses on ammonia refrigeration and flammable (methane) processes and compliance with the EPA Risk Management Program (40 CFR Part 68) and the OSHA Process Safety Management Program (29 CFR 1910.119). You will be allowed to work remotely 1-2 days a week if possible. This position includes travel to client locations 50% of the time.

How you can make an impact

  • Apply intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering and practices in environmental services and related fields.
  • Record data during field work, which could include but is not limited to: Equipment specification, vessel data plate information, pipe sizes, sketches for piping diagrams, piping lengths, etc.
  • Draft piping diagrams for ammonia refrigeration systems using ACAD.
  • On-site work includes scribing at Process Hazard Analysis studies.
  • Prepare reports such as: Process Safety Management programs, EPA Risk Management Programs, California Accidental Release Prevention (CalARP) Programs
  • As an Engineer at SCS, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that all projects are designed and delivered to meet our client's goals, making a direct impact on our success.
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation and develop a detailed project plan to track progress.
  • Manage changes in project scope, schedule, and costs.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, reports, and permit applications.
  • Recommend independent decisions on engineering or scientific problems and methods, plan and coordinate work, and represent us at meetings and conferences.
  • Office-based tasks, including GIS, mathematical calculations, and report writing.
  • Assist business development, including proposal preparation, meeting with clients, and attending industry-related conferences/trade shows.
  • Receive technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans or projects.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical engineering or similar engineering major is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant environmental experience required, including knowledge of CA – specific regulations.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering design plans and piping diagrams.
  • A valid driver's license with a driving record in good standing is required.

Pay Range

USD $70,000.00 - USD $85,000.00 /Yr.
