What we are looking for

SCS Engineers is looking for an Electrical Engineering Lead for our Energy Business Unit. You will be responsible for leading the design, development, and oversight of electrical systems and components for a variety of large scale engineering projects. This role requires strong technical leadership abilities & expertise, problem-solving skills, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative and reliable solutions. You will oversee & review the design of all electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, control systems, and instrumentation, prepare detailed drawings and specifications, and perform critical calculations and analyses to ensure safe and efficient designs. This is a hands-on role that combines design, testing, and iteration. You will help shape how the system is built, how it performs in the field, and how it scales into a reliable product. You will work in the Long Beach Headquarters (hybrid) and at various project locations around North America.

How you can make an impact

  • Lead & coordinate the design and develop electrical systems for industrial and commercial projects, including power distribution, lighting, and control systems.
  • Review & approve all detailed electrical drawings, specifications, and documentation using CAD tools.
  • Review & approve all load calculations, short circuit analysis, and protective device coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with electrical Utilities and design interconnect and distribution.
  • Review & approve all design of single lines, load lists & electrical drawing packages.
  • Review & approve all conduit & cable schedules design.
  • Collaborate with chemical, mechanical, civil, structural, HVAC, Fire, and controls engineers to ensure integrated system design.
  • Work with other disciplines to ensure chemical, process, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, fire, Utility, and software systems are fully integrated.
  • Review and approve electrical designs and provide technical guidance to project teams.
  • Support field installation and commissioning activities as needed.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and reports.
  • Integrate sensors, instruments, actuators, and autonomy hardware into a cohesive and reliable architecture.
  • Participate in pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up of all projects.
  • Review and approve multi-disciplinary commissioning processes to ensure they are compliant with procedures, specifications and standards of the project and oversee the installation and design of commissioning supplies and systems.
  • Coordinate all aspects of project document completion within company and externally with vendors, subcontractors, clients and other design professionals.
  • Responsible for regularly monitoring and reporting commissioning progress.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience leading electrical design and engineering teams required.
  • Expert experience with power distribution, control systems, and instrumentation.
  • Expert in load calculations, short circuit analysis, and protective device coordination.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering software tools.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as required (25-30%)
  • Valid driver's license in good standing. 

Pay Range

USD $120,000.00 - USD $160,000.00 /Yr.
