What we are looking for

SCS Engineers is looking for a summer 2027 intern for our Dallas-Fort Worth office located in Bedford, TX. This opportunity offers practical hands-on experience in engineering consulting and business operations through a diverse range of projects while providing you the opportunity to explore the beginnings of your own career path.

 

As an intern, you’ll work alongside experienced SCS professionals on projects encompassing comprehensive application of civil engineering principles (i.e., site development, drainage, soil mechanics, fluid mechanics, etc.) with emphasis on solid waste facilities such as landfills, transfer stations, material recovery facilities, and renewable natural gas plants.

 

Specific projects typically include engineering design, permitting, and construction management of landfill liners, gas collection and stormwater management systems, and composite final covers. Additional projects you will be involved with during your internship include volumetric calculations, geotechnical analyses and subsurface investigations, site development, and sustainability projects. You will typically work in our Bedford office 40 hours per week, with some occasional field work.

How you can make an impact

You will contribute to our projects by assisting SCS project teams with the following tasks:

  • Reporting and calculation preparation
  • AutoCAD/Civil 3D design and drafting
  • Laboratory data management and review
  • Construction observation and documentation
  • Environmental and construction materials sample collection

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master’s degree in civil, environmental, geology, or biology/biosystems engineering required and graduating by December 2027 or June 2028 required (preference for those candidates graduating by December 2027).
  • Must live in the Dallas-Fort Worth (Bedford) area for entirety of internship period (housing allowance will not be provided).
  • AutoCAD / Civil 3D experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a driving record in good standing required.
  • Ability to travel overnight for work outside of an office setting may be required.

Pay Range

USD $21.00 - USD $24.00 /Hr.

Additional Information

*At this time, we only consider candidates who are authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for current or future employer sponsorship for our internship program.
